Sonic sat up, shaking his head. "Ugh, why does my head hurt?" He said loudly. We all looked at him. "Sonic, are you okay?" I asked as I came to his side. "No, not really "
"Well ain't that wonderful? Sleeping Beauty finally got out of bed." Shadow remarked. He pointed his gun at Sonic. I jumped in between them and spread my arms, as a shield. "Aw, isn't that sweet. You want to protect this loser? Protect someone worth living, like me."
I glared at him. "I would never protect a brute like you. You hurt others for your own amusement!" Shadow just laughed. "Well, I wouldn't be so sure: You failed to protect this little weakling over here." He said, pointing to Tails's dead body with his gun.
My anger and rage quickly changed to sadness and guilt when those words escaped his mouth. I dropped my arms and looked at the floor. Sonic looked at me in shock. "Is that true?" I hesitantly nodded.
Sonic dropped to the floor, kneeling and bowing his head. He pounded his fist to the floor. "You have crossed the line this time, Shadow. You can take my things, you can take my supplies, but once you take the life of my best friend
" He stopped. He stood up and gripped his fists. "Your dead body will be pieces when I'm through with you!" Sonic yelled.
Shadow scoffed. "Am I supposed to be intimated by that little speech of yours?" He pointed his gun at Sonic. "Game over, Sonic." He fired his gun. I covered my eyes, and when I opened them, Sonic was grinning and was holding the bullet in his hand. He closed his green eyes and reopened them. His eyes are now yellow, and the moon was shining on his face. "You're wrong, Shadow. Your game is over!"
Sonic charged Shadow through the wall, creating a giant hole and Shadow landed outside, spitting blood onto the ground. He stepped towards the hole, and looked back at me. "Aren't you coming? You said you wouldn't protect him, right?" I looked at him, confused.
"Y-yes, I know, but what about
" I stammered. "It's alright. You can heal him, remember?" He replied. His yellow eyes were gleaming under the moonlight. "Well, yes, but I'm not sure if I can revive him. I haven't learned that yet." Sonic shook his head. "It doesn't matter. I think I know of a way to get him back." He looked at Blaze. "Blaze, I'm going to need you to carry Tails, if it's okay with you." She nodded and picked up Tails's body. Sonic looked at Silver. "Silver, you're going to have to cover Blaze's back as she takes Tails to the designated location. You think you can handle that?" Silver nodded in response.
Sonic turned back to me. "So, are you going to help me or not?" he asked. I walked up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. "You bet!" Silver and Blaze went on the path to the designated location. Sonic and I jumped outside to finish Shadow off, who by the way, is standing up, glaring at us, and his hands are holding Chaos Spears. Get ready!
